A little bit about me

Drew Schaffer is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ who specializes in helping people transition into and throughout retirement. He primarily helps with retirement planning and investment management.

  • The CFP® certification is the standard for financial planning. CFP® professionals meet rigorous education, training and ethical standards, and are committed to serving their clients' best interests today to prepare them for a more secure tomorrow.

  • Drew has been a practicing CFP® since 2018. He was lead planner and advisor for 200+ households during his time at Vanguard. Since joining Ellis Investment Partners, LLC in 2021, Drew has taken the role of heading the financial planning department, as well as lead planner for Ellis clients. Drew keeps his practice size to a maximum of 60:1 client to advisor, to ensure each household receives adequate attention and proactive retirement advice.

  • From my experience, the areas covered, and the services provided across most wealth management firms are similar. You may have differences in investment philosophies at different firms, differences in costs, or differences in planning techniques. But even those share more similarities across firms than differences.

The biggest difference makers for a client’s experience and the value they derive from an advisor relationship are dependent upon their advisor themselves. Those difference makers include:

    • Time and attention your retirement plan receives

    • Proactively planning for your retirement’s opportunity areas

    • Consistent & Effective communication

    • Expertise around your areas of need and knowledge of solutions

    • Ability to trust your planner

The last bullet point is grown and realized over time. And I place it with the utmost importance to build a two-way trusting relationship. But those first four bullet are things I can control up front. This is why I limit my client to advisor ratio to 60:1. At my previous institution, we would have 200 clients to 1 advisor. I would have 25-30 meetings a week. Whereas now I may have 2-3 meetings a week.

This allows me to spend adequate time on each household’s retirement plan. Proactively research and communicate the best solutions for your specific needs. And help you implement those solutions, creating actual positive impact to your retirement.
